The Sharp HDTV 42 LC-42D85U will incorporate all of the new features included in the HDTV 42 LC-42D65U series such as the new design, enhanced viewing angles, and energy saving features. The main step up differences will be the 120Hz 10bit refresh rate processing to help eliminate motion blur in fast moving sequences. This should be a nice piece and good seller for 2008 fall and winter 2009 season.
The HDTV 42 D85U series features Sharp?s proprietary 10 bit Advanced Super View panel with Spectral Contrast Engine UD (Ultra Dark). The models include Fine Motion Enhanced technology for 120 Hz Frame Rate Conversion, fast pixel response time of 4 ms, and wide viewing angles of 176 degrees.
Additionally, all units in this series include five HDMI inputs and two HD component terminals, all of which are compatible with 1080p signals from Blu-ray Disc players and other new devices, in addition to RS-232C for custom installations and a dedicated PC input.
The HDTV 42 D85U series is Energy Star qualified and also offers a new energy-saving function. A “Power Saving Mode” is available through the unit?s on-screen display menu, which enables active contrast and active backlight to reduce the energy of the television while in use.
The HDTV 42 LCD AQUOS D85U series sets a new standard for large-screen flat-panel TVs. With Full HD 1080p resolution and an elegant new design, it produces a breathtaking picture quality that is second to none. The D85U Series utilizes Sharp’s proprietary Advanced Super View/Black TFT Panel with Spectral Contrast Engine, providing high Dynamic-Contrast Ratio, 4ms response time and 176-degrees wide viewing angles. In addition, the HDTV 42 D85U models include 120HZ Fine Motion Enhanced for the ultimate in fast-motion image processing. All models are HDTV 42 with built-in ATSC, QAM, and NTSC tuners and include 5 HDMI inputs, compatible with 1080p signals, and 2 HD 1080p component video inputs. The D85U Series features a sleek piano black cabinet with subtle recessed bottom-mounted speakers. The included table stand easily removes for wall mounting applications. The AQUOS D85U uses a 10-Bit ASV LCD Panel from Sharp’s state-of-the-art Kameyama factory, with Active Color for a more lifelike picture, Active Contrast for truer blacks, and a fast response time. 3-Wavelength Back-Light System
