The specs of Philips 42PFL3603D are excellent for the low price range and it has 4 HDMI inputs with plenty of other kinds too. The spec that sold it was the depth on stand. It fits nicely on our 11″ mantel and allowed us to put off mounting it. The picture is better than I expected for SD from a sat. box. Off the air HD is awesome with regular rabbit ears and I never imagined the local PBS stations would each have 3 or 4 different channels. Incredible! Watched penguins diving in the Antactic tonight and it was crystal-freaking-clear.

Pros: Has a 42-inch screen size.This is larger than the average TV on the market today, but is to be expected for a TV of this price.With built-in HDTV compatibility, this TV set can display images that are significantly sharper and more realistic than regular television, as long as the source is high definition.(It can easily render standard-resolution digital TV broadcasts and also depict the full resolution of widescreen DVD video.)The 3:2 pulldown feature of this unit reduces artifacts that can occur when motion pictures are transferred to a digital format such as DVD.
Cons: Has only a rear connector location.
Suitability: An LCD TV, suited for home entertainment.Also, a wide aspect TV such as this one is ideal for DVD movies recorded in the popular 16:9 format, as well as high definition programming.
Value: Given its very inexpensive price, this TV has good features for the money.In terms of viewable size, LCD TVs having comparable viewable size have an average cost of about $1,500.
