Like all LG products the LG30 series are as aesthetically stylish as they are technologically advanced. Slim, sleek and sophisticated – the LG30 series will enhance your sense of style.

This LCD TV has 1366 X 768 (720p) resolution. Dynamic contrast ratio is listed at 12,000:1 (this is not native contrast). This entry level LCD television houses 2 HDMI inputs. It contains some of LG’s newest technologies including invisible speakers with Clear Voice technology. This technology gives the user a better experience by enhancing and amplifying the audio output for voice dialogue during programming. The 42LG30 also has changeable AV modes for varying programming including sports, gaming, and cinema. All of the LG30 models include a swivel stand with the LCD. The TV also has contains the expert mode enhancement.

Performance
Despite the fact that this unit under LG30 series is not a Full 1080P monitor yet it accepts 1080P lines of resolution from the respective sources and display them accurately. Picture in this case looks like a real high-definition picture. Movie sources such as recorded on Blu-ray discs in 1080P resolution @24fps can be displayed in full resolution @24fps through HDMI and Component outputs. These pictures are nicely scaled down to the monitor’s native resolution of 1366×768 pixels. The monitor is free from artifacts such as color banding, color fringing or ghost like images. Picture is simply sharp and bright.

Sports in digital high definition on this television are very impressive. Colors and brightness are very accurate out of the box. For movie watching it will be nice if you calibrate the picture with a calibration disc. This way color temperature, color saturation and PLUGE patterns can come close to CRT Post Production standard. 

The appearance of the unit in glossy piano black color is unique. The screen panel with sleek design has thickness less than 4″. It looks elegant. The design is very modern and light-weight. The speaker system is hidden inside the front bezel. The system is equipped with Clear Voice technology which delivers the dialogues in a very clean way every time. Even in scenes with background noises the dialogues are always clean. The speaker system in stereo mode outputs 10 watts of audio in each channel with less than 10% of Total Harmonic Distortion.

The HDMI inputs under 1.3 versions support the DeepColor™ information. Movies encoded in this format deliver a true black level in the picture. Some new Blu-ray movie discs are coming with this color information. The unit is also equipped with LG’s Super IPS LCD Screen technology which allows a wider viewing angle up to 178? in both horizontal and vertical directions. Overall performance of the unit is very good.

Pros and Cons
LG 42LG30™ has elegant looks and is equipped with advanced technical features found in high-end televisions.
On the lines of resolution side it has enough strength to support the native HDTV resolution but the screen panel lacks Full 1080P lines of resolution. This may not be an issue as higher resolution pictures can easily be accommodated in a decent display manner.

Higher contrast ratio in dynamic mode is excellent but the screen response time is little bit slower than the one found on new models. However, the picture quality is very good. It looks like Full 1080P picture.

LG 42LG30™ is not a Full 1080P LCD high-definition television but has similar strengths. HDTV up to 720P or 1080i lines of resolution and Computer graphics up to 1024×768 can be watched in their true native resolutions. Other higher resolution pictures can be mapped into the native resolution of the monitor in a very decent way. Audio and video technologies are supported in an advanced and elegant manner in this television. The most favorite thing about this TV is its low and affordable price. For a Home Theater concept and Business meeting presentations it will prove to be a true companion.
