Hitachi’s Ultra Thin LCD HDTV

Ultra Thin LCD HDTV’s  is one of superior product from Hitachi which measure a mere 1.5 inches (35mm) thin. The models will be available to consumers early this year in three sizes: 32”, 37” and 42”.

The Ultra Thin 1.5 design features a translucent “crystal frame” surrounding the picture with a semi-transparent inner frame enhancing the impression of precision and feather lightweight. The thinness and lightness ( the 32” HDTV Monitor weighs just over 24 lbs) of the displays was achieved using micro-lens light diffusion, electronic component miniaturization and a proprietary silent cooling system. These technologies, combined with In Plane Switching (IPS) LCD technology and External Electrode Fluorescent Lamp (EEFL) technologies, which affords greater power efficiency, delivers improved and more flexible color accuracy as well as a longer overall life span for the display.

While the new line may be thinner than existing LCD’s, Hitachi isn’t compromising on features with all sizes including a vertical and horizontal viewing angle of 178 degrees and the inclusion of Picture Master Full HD. This is Hitachi’s HD image processing engine which analyzes and processes the image at a high speed, providing quality pictures by optimizing contrast frame by frame and adjusting the hue, saturation and brightness pixel by pixel using 3D data as well as controlling detail gradation and sharp edges. They have also added a circuit designed to enhance the crispness in scenes to capture subtle details, such as details in human skin.

Located at the left and right sides of the bottom of the monitor are Hitachi’s newly developed box-type speakers which are slim enough to fit the 35mm thickness of the monitor and are powered by the included 6.0 watt + 6.0 watt digital amplifier. The three sound modes on offer include “clear voice” to pick up human voices clearly, “surround” for natural, clear three-dimensional sound, and “bass boost” for the optimum bass sound.

All displays also include energy-efficient features such as “auto power off,” for people who forget to turn off the TV and a “video power save” feature which switches the TV to stand-by mode when there is no signal coming into the TV.

The 37” and 42” models will include Hitachi’s proprietary “Anti-Judder” technique, which is designed to eliminate the jerky image stutter that often occurs with 3:2 pull-down correction – the process that is used to get a movie’s 24 frames-per-second to match the television system’s 60 frames-per-second. Hitachi’s “Anti-Judder” technique creates interpolated frames based on the original film images to smooth out the movement and correctly match the motion of the original movie.

The 32” model introduced in the first quarter of 2008 at a resolution of 1366×768 while the 37” and 42” models that featured with a resolution of 1920×1080 introduced in the second quarter of 2008.
