Samsung LCD TV 1080p

This 52-inch set’s out-of-the-box color quality was outstanding, and it handled standard and high-definition video well by preserving fine detail while minimizing distracting image artifacts. The set’s black-bezel design embeds a thin strip of dark red-amber color along its transparent outer edge, which is hard to notice unless you’re up close; still, it’s quite attractive. The remote control features rounded edges for a more comfortable grip, and its keypad has enlarged, clearly labeled, fully backlit buttons. A directional pad for menu navigation also functions as a jog/shuttle control.

When powered on, there is a red light in the lower right of the border that illuminates whenever an IR signal is received from the remote. This outward-facing panel includes three HDMI ports, two component video inputs, and a VGA port. Front-accessible ports on the left-hand side of the set include an additional HDMI port and a USB port for accessing multimedia content like pictures, music, and video files stored on removable media. With a sprawling 52-inch screen displaying full 1080p resolution (1,920 by 1,080 pixels progressively scanned), the LCD features a clear surface filter, which Samsung claims improves contrast and color fidelity by deepening video black. This occurs when video is scaled (evenly stretched) beyond the edges of the active portion of the TV’s screen.

Most sets overscan video by about 6 percent, sacrificing part of the picture. The LN52A750 provides a picture-sizing control that eliminates overscan with 1080i/p video from component- and HDMI-connected sources. Component 720p video, however, was overscanned by 4.5 percent, and 720p HDMI sources were overscanned by a relatively minor 1 percent. The set’s “movie” picture mode was best at producing color and detail that matches the HD spec. The LN52A750′s 120-Hz display technology is similar to that found in the Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR4. Even so, Samsung’s implementation of this technology produced less picture corruption with complex scenes.

The LN52A750 has 4 HDMI inputs which is more than enough for most users. The set’s calibrated picture produced an utterly impressive 3725:1 contrast ratio, thanks to its dark black level of 0.03 cd/m2. Granted, at 20 degrees off-axis, the black level doubled (a common issue with LCD TVs that effectively halves the contrast ratio). Once it had minor tweaks to the TV’s video settings, it saw very good image overall quality across various standard-definition video sources.

By default, the TV’s film-mode detection is disabled, and enabling it helped the set to properly and quickly detect 24p-sourced material (most films and digital cinema).  The set’s video processor also excels with HD video, keeping unwanted artifacts such as banding (posterization) and jagged edges from tainting the picture. This filter technology, though, helps create awesomely dark black levels and epic contrast performance—characteristics that directly influence perception of detail and color and make this set truly shine. Also, the Samsung LN52A750′s integrated multimedia and network features are a real treat, enabling easy streaming of PC content into the living room.

Then it definitely suggest going into the Picture OptionsDetailed Settings submenu and play with the Auto Motion Plus 120Hz options. The Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Color and more are easily accessible. If you want more direction control, look under for Black Adjust, Dynamic Contrast, Gamma, and the all important White Balance. You’ll also use this menu for the setup of your Cable network, your Wireless or Wired network, PiP, and software upgrades (easily performed through the USB port).
